Reviews for inFamous on PS3:

From Mr Wildman - Beds, UK:

This game seems to be a bit of a sleeper hit! I was really looking forward to prototype and as such must have completed skimmed over infamous! I am a huge fan of superpowers in most forms so the idea of this game instantly appealed. when I first started to play it, I must admit to being a little disappointed. The graphics of the actual gameplay are good, especially the electrical effects but hey if they didn't get that right in a game about electrical superpowers then they would have had a non starter anyway! This being said, I wouldn't say it was one of "the best looking games on the PS3 to date", as it has been lauded in other reviews. The only gripe I have about the graphics is that the other characters in the game i.e. bystanders move in a very clunky way. This clunky animation is also present in the small cutscenes showing Cole speaking. These are minor points though as the main fun in this game is the gameplay itself. I am not far into the game at this point but the use of cole's powers is already fun, I have only unlocked one power past the standard ability to shoot electricity bolts but this is great fun! One tiny gripe about the aiming system is that you need to be dead on with your aim or your will miss your target, which can be heavily annoying when you are trying to snipe fast moving enemies from a roof top so my advice would be jump down in the middle of them and keep moving! It's much more fun and easier to kill the hordes without being shot to pieces while taking careful aim only to miss! The mission system is very reminiscent of the spiderman games but it has been improved upon. A lot of the side missions in the spiderman games were all the same but this is not the case in infamous. I have only done a few but so far I have come across sneakily following enemy couriers, killing a superpowered baddie that is terrorising a local park, rescuing kidnapped civilians and doing a timed race to synchronise transmitting towers. The main missions are equally varied and combine this with the ever evolving powers, there will be very little repetition through the game. The karma system is quite cleverly done. Unlike spiderman 3 where the outcome of you choosing the good or evil path would ultimately have very little effect on anything, the choices you make in infamous have obvious repercussions. The most obvious of these is the effect on the powers that become available to you depending on what path you choose. The powers on the dark side seem to be a lot more destructive but this involves hurting civilians. This in turn makes the civilians more hostile towards you and can hamper your progress. I have chosen to go for the good guy path and when you do this, the powers you get are still very cool and you get the general public cheering you on! The colour of the electricity changes depending on if you go for good or evil, blue for good and red for evil. It would seem that most of the reviewers on various websites are sadists as all of the screen shots seem to have red electricity! Anyway, enough of my ramblings. I will conclude in saying that this game is definitely worth a look, even if only to keep you busy until Prototype arrives!

From A D Harrison UK:

this game is fantastic really fun with a great storyline i have actually got the game not the demo you never get bored if you have a ps3 you should have it even if your not into superheroes you'll like it the only thing that could be better is you get coop and online because at the beginning this guy called zeke is quite a big part and they should have another story mode where you get to do it with your mate and there should be online like gta a few people are cole(the main guy with powers) and a lot of people should be reapers(the bad guys) thats the only thaing that make s this game bad yeah it has a few glitches from time to time but that doesn't make a game . Overall if you have a ps3 and want a new game that is fun and exciting this is for you. It also has trophies too.

From True Gamer (UK):

I just love Infamous from the minute it started. its real fun and offers decent challenges with side missions all over the place and main missions waiting for you to start at your own pace. it does have a long life span for a offline title. You decide which way you go, Hero or Infamous. It may feel samey at times, but I found that playing a few hours here and there makes it a lot more enjoyable. Enemies are real hard to beat, though a more of a variety could have been added. I noticed some bugs like people disappearing, climbing etc. BUT, no way has this ruined a lovely game. Weapon upgrades are cool and the story and characters are so gripping. I would recommend it. best PS3 exclusive since Drakes Fortune.
